Szamotuły - always on your way
Szamotuły is a town situated 35 km north-west of Poznan, at the railway road connecting Poznan and Szczecin. It is located about 300 km to the sea, 300 km to the mountains and in the vicinity of Notecka Forest. The location ensures perfect environment for the economic and tourist development of the town and the commune. Szamotuły is an important road and rail hub. International routes leading through the A2 motorway and Frankfurt (Oder) to Berlin and a railroad from Poznan to Szczecin also pass through Szamotuły.
The town of Szamotuły itself has approximately 19 000 inhabitants, and the entire commune around 29 000. It occupies an area of 10.11 km2 (the commune - 175,1 km2) and is the main economic, administrative, cultural and educational centre of the region. The economy is based on agriculture and industry, as its main natural treasure is fertile soil. Precious historic monuments, sports and recreation facilities and plenty of green areas are the tourist attractions of Szamotuły. Its geographic position, convenient location in the vicinity of Poznan as well as its attachment to Poznan agglomeration positively influence the development of transportation.
The Western Poznan Bypass, a part of North-South expressway 11, situated only 18 km from Szamotuły makes the connection with A2 motorway more convenient.
All these advantages make both the town and the commune an attractive place for investors, tradesmen and tourists from Poland and abroad. It is also a perfect location to settle down and spend life here. Beside the attractive location and well developed infrastructure Szamotuły present many virtues, which other towns strive to have, the most important of which is a unique atmosphere. It is enough to visit the impressive old town where you get surrounded with beautiful
tenement houses from the turn of 19/20th century. A stroll along narrow streets, which preserved the old urban layout, gives an unforgettable contact with history. On the way, you can see a gothic church – Minor Basilica or Halszka Tower. If your heart is moved by the notes created by Wacław from Szamotuły - a court composer of Zygmunt August or the verses of the first Polish love letter written in Szamotuły in the first part of the 15th century, you will undoubtedly feel that you are in a unique place.
